Paul's Stuff...

Oblique Strategies

Oblique Strategies is a set of suggestions and advice, which may be used during any creative process when a new idea seems to be needed, or just to add an unexpected or random element.

They were devised by Brian Eno and Peter Schmidt in 1975, and were originally produced in the form of a set of playing cards. The idea is that whenever required, a card is drawn randomly from the deck, and its advice must be followed.

This is my javascript-based version of the Oblique Strategies.

The Pub-Rock Band Name Generator

There's a certain inevitability about the names of Pub-Rock bands. The same words and phrases seem to be re-used endlessly in every possible permutation. This is my tribute to those bands.

The Pub-Rock Band Name Generator presents you with a randomly-combined list of band names as stale as the beer'n'fags smell of the pubs where these bands play.

Each time you refresh the page (ironically enough), you'll get another selection of names as grindingly recycled as the last. If you keep going long enough, you will inevitably start finding the names of real-life bands you've actually seen...

Twister Spinner

A javascript-based version of the spinner used in the game Twister to choose which limb has to go on which coloured spot. Apart from the Twister logo itself, it also uses an image of the eye/lens of Hal from 2001, and thus constitutes multiple copyright infringements whilst being of virtually no practical use whatsoever.
